More About Me

I grew up in Arlington, Nebraska, on a crop & livestock 6th generation family farm just outside of Omaha, and was a multi-sport athlete, participating in basketball, volleyball, track and field, and softball.   Following accolades in High school:

  • Class C-1 All-State athlete

  • A starter on the Class C-1 State Championship basketball team in 2000

  • Selected for the Nebraska Daubert Pinnacle All-Star Junior and Senior teams.

  • 2001 graduate of Arlington High School

I went on to receive a full basketball scholarship to Iowa State University where I studied Exercise and Sports Science.  At Iowa State, I was part of several NCAA tournament and winning seasons during her five-year career from 2001–2006. In 2006, I was invited to the WNBA Draft Camp and later signed as a free agent with the Sacramento Monarchs. That same season, the Monarchs advanced to the WNBA Finals, ultimately finishing as runners-up to the Detroit Shock in Game 5.

My time in the WNBA launched a six-year professional basketball career that included both domestic and international play. I continued with the Sacramento Monarchs in 2007 and later joined the San Antonio Silver Stars in 2008, where the team again reached the WNBA Finals, finishing as runner-up.

Internationally, I played professionally in Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, and Australia. During my overseas career, I helped secure championships for my teams in Switzerland, Germany and Australia. Over her six-year career, Brittany played for 12 different teams in seven different countries.

At age 30, I retired from professional basketball and transitioned into education, teaching Health and Physical Education to Kindergarten to Grade 10. abroad. I spent 11 years living in Tokyo, Japan, where I also coached high school basketball and volleyball.

In September 2023 I moved home to the states to be closer to family and the family farm. During the last two years I have since been teaching locally, running youth basketball camps, and recently began a full-time role teaching Health and P.E. at Roncalli Catholic High School.

Now back in Nebraska, I enjoy spending time with her family—especially watching the activities of seven of my ten nieces and nephews, all of whom currently attend Arlington schools. In my free time, she enjoys playing guitar, being involved in her church, and continuing to travel.
